Dr. cody garrison

From early childhood, Dr. Cody Guy Garrison has had a passion for practicing dentistry and performing as a concert pianist, and has dedicated his life to mastering both.

The child of a farming family in rural North Dakota, Dr. Garrison first became interested in dentistry after realizing that his childhood dentist was a central part of the community. For Dr. Garrison, developing relationships with neighbors was a natural inclination, as his hometown (with a population of 350 people) was tight-knit. Knowing that dentistry would allow him to help his neighbors reinforced in his mind that dentistry would be his future profession.

He received his bachelor’s degree in Accountancy from the University of Jamestown in North Dakota and then attended the University of Colorado School of Dental Medicine, graduating with a DDS. Upon graduation, he began practicing in a rural Colorado community health clinic before moving to Denver to practice as a staff dentist and later as the director of a community health clinic in the inner city. During his time in these clinics, Dr. Garrison saw firsthand the positive impact of a confident smile on a person’s life.

In order to ensure his patients receive the best care, Dr. Garrison actively seeks out courses that help him develop the new techniques and skills needed in this continuously changing profession. He is a member of the American Dental Association, the Colorado Dental Association, and the Metro Denver Dental Society.

The piano became a part of Dr. Garrison’s life at age of seven.  He is fortunate enough to travel regionally, nationally, and internationally, performing with a wide range of musicians. Locally, some of his work includes serving as a collaborative pianist at the University of Denver, a pianist for Opera Colorado, and a recent performance of two piano concertos with the Boulder Symphony. He firmly believes that both music and dentistry allow the practitioner to develop his or her artistic side while improving the lives of others, and finds that the two blend perfectly.

When Dr. Garrison is not in the clinic treating his neighbors or practicing the piano for innumerable hours, he can be found on his road bike, at concerts, catching up with friends, or meandering aimlessly around the Highlands, enjoying a new podcast; he always welcomes suggestions on the new best band, most captivating new author, or the next great podcast. He has called the Sloan’s Lake neighborhood home for the past seven years and is looking forward to meeting many more of his neighbors in the years to come at City Roots Dental.

dr. carley janda

Dr. Carley Janda has always been intrigued by the human smile. She understands its ability to improve  health and overall quality of life. She believes a confident smile, with its ability to elevate the energy in a room, is the most simple and powerful expression. With this belief in mind, Dr. Janda has devoted her professional and personal life to lifting the smiles of others.

After pursuing a Bachelor’s in Science at Creighton University, Dr. Janda earned her DDS at the University of Colorado School of Dental Medicine. She then completed the highly renowned General Practice Residency program at the University of Washington in Seattle, WA. Since moving back to her home state, she has settled in the quaint neighborhood of Edgewater, a community that she proudly calls home. Dr. Janda knew the Sloan’s Lake community embraced all things important to her: diversity, small business appreciation, and a neighborly feel.

Dr. Janda began her career in the field as a Dental Assistant 21 years ago, though has been exposed to dentistry her whole life. Raised in a small town in Colorado, her father is a dentist. Perhaps it was fate - Dr. Janda fell in love with the delicacy and art of dentistry. Her path has been unique, with experiences as the dentist at Buena Vista Correctional Facility, volunteer dentist in rural Guatemala, resident dentist of complex dentistry in a hospital setting, and dual-staff dentist in a private practice and community health setting. Dr. Janda understands and appreciates the complexities dentistry offers, with her favorite part being each patient’s distinct individuality.  With her diverse background, Dr. Janda looks forward to providing a different dental experience, customized just for you. She enjoys serving the people with whom she shares a grocery store.

Dr. Janda seeks consistent continued education with the following professional associations to ensure her and the team at City Roots Dental is always providing the latest, clinically-proven care:
-         American Dental Association
-         Colorado Dental Association
-         Metro Denver Dental Society
-         Spear Education

Outside of dentistry, Dr. Janda enjoys spontaneous bike rides and BBQs, local craft brews, camping and float trips (really, anything in the Colorado sunshine), experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen, and crafting (although admits that has tapered off since her Do-It-Yourself wedding). Dr. Janda married her wife on a goat farm in September of 2016 and they have two kiddos together, Otto and Iris Janda. Though plenty of hobbies, she admits spending Sundays at home with her family tops the list.

The office

On behalf of the entire team at City Roots Dental, we look forward to meeting you and your family.

City Roots Dental offers a full range of general, comprehensive, and specialized dental services in a relaxed setting. As a community-minded practice, we welcome you to stop by upon our opening and say hello. Let us show you the uniqueness of City Roots Dental.

In today’s world, it’s uncommon to establish an independently owned dental practice outside of the corporate umbrella. Dr. Garrison and Dr. Janda both hail from small towns and shared a dream of opening a family dental practice with a small town feel in their neighborhood.

Our Mission:

To provide customized, conservative dental care while fostering community with our neighbors.

Before joining the City Roots team, Amanda worked for 9 years at the very same office where she was a patient as a child. At City Roots, she functions mainly at the front desk, but you can sometimes find her in the back assisting the doctors and other staff.

When not wearing many hats at the office, Annette enjoys reading, hiking, and playing with her “son” Malcolm (her goldendoodle).
